IDENTIFYING E.COLI

In the image above, Mr.N ate at the local salad bar
about 6 pm last evening. He is awakened about 2 am
with severe abdominal cramps and a desperate feeling
to go to the bathroom.

Escherichia Coli is a strain of bacteria that lives in the bowel.
When found in the food, it causes gastrointestinal symptoms.

Poor hygiene may cause this to happen.

IV assessment

The surgical patient is at risk for infection, related to
  surgical intervention.

- Paralytic ileus may occur .

- Hypothermia due to fluid loss and bodily exposure
  during surgery. Hypothermia increases the body's need
  for oxygen and possibly may lead to a cardiac event.

 Warming measures are necessary.
