Sickle cell anemia is a form of anemia in which the red blood cells are shaped like a sickle. This results in the
red blood cells clumping and having great difficulty flowing through the blood vessels.
Some patients experience *
sickle cell crisis. Conditions such as
stroke symptoms or ischemic
chest pain may result from the lack of oxygen.
