DEHYDRATION - WHAT IS IT ?

 Dear nurses,

Hope you had a good week. The temperatures in
southern California have been exceptionally high.
There is always the potential for dehydration in very
hot weather. However, there are other ways in which
dehydration may occur. These include:
- burns (chp 19)
- blood loss
- surgical intervention
- diabetes insipidus
- diabetic ketoacidosis (chp 12)
- prolonged exposure to harsh conditions in the outdoors.
