ADDRESSING PEDIATRIC ASSESSMENT

Dearnurses.org is no
longer available.

Pediatric assessment

Here are some hints when an assessment is done:

- Record history from parent or guardian
- Document GCS
- check nutritional status and signs of dehydration
( sunken fontanels)
- number of wet diapers in 24 hours
- check immunization status and any fever, cough

In infants and small children, signs such as sunken
fontanels, sunken eyes and irritability may be caused
by dehydration.
